Jay takes us around away from Budapest today. We stay along the Danube in Szentendre and head south a bit to Erd.

Today we venture outside Budapest to Erd to the south and Szentendre to the north. Erd is a very old town (as are Buda and Pest) with some old Roman roads and an ecclectic Saturday market. Szentendre in a colorful place with cobblestone streets and on the outskirts, a Skansen or open air museum showing buildings and life from regions all over Hungary.

Here is a summary of the day in photos:

Nic checking for a great buy at the flea market in Erd.

Ian can hardly believe all these animals couped up in little crates. All for sale of course.

Typical building style at the Skansen Museum outside Szentendre.

The cloth dying building. There is a blue patterned cloth that has been made here in Hungary for centuries.

The boys go to school.

Even a windmill - did we travel back to Holland?

Jay, our tour guide for today, explains the unique characteristics of a Trabant - the family car from socialism days.

The church at the top of the hill in Szentendre - and another wedding!.

Now in the marzipan museum, yes that is Michael Jackson in marzipan...

...and the Wizard of Oz...

...and the boys get to make their own marzipan creation tought by the Hungarian master, interpreted by Jay.

The town square in Szentendre.

And why not finish off the day with some pools and baths...

...and water slides. If only there was more time.
