Last day in Hungary today, Sunday, and we attend a Hungarian Christian church in Budapest where Jay and Beth attend. The singing is with a praise band, mostly in Hungarian - but is a great way to learn some Hungarian because they had the words projected in Hungarian and English. The pastor spoke in English and paused to be translated to Hungarian. Very good service and satisfying to see common worship in another country. Then lunch and travel all afternoon to Austria - Obertraun.
The start of our awards (based only on our personal experience.) Award for the most sound barriers along roads - goes to Austria. They have sound barriers everywhere even on two lane roads. So you want to get a glimpse of the little Austrian town? Too bad, sound barriers. Even the smallest of towns have them. Award for the worst roads - goes to Germany. You might be able to go as fast as you want because there is no speed limit, but you rarely can! We have criss-crossed this country and have been slowed by construction, too much traffic and too many trucks. Why is it that as soon you get going 140 kph, you have to slow to 80 kph? Cars in Germany should come WITHOUT cruise control because you can NEVER use it. Trucks and other vehicles go 80 - 100 kph in the slow lane and the fast lane is for anywhere between 80 and 250 kph, too wide a range to make travel a pleasant experience. Award for best road signs - goes to Hungary. You could probably navigate this country without a map. They even have simple overview maps of cities when you come upon them!
Here is a short summary of the day in photos:

Not sure why since Hungary is in the EU, but it looks like this when you enter or leave Hungary from Austria.

Our Zimmer Frei in Obertraun Austria. Our rooms are on the second floor, the right side of the balcony.

The Traun river back of our lodging via a nice walking path.

Kathy and Nic finish off the Cantalope, dripping the juice on the geraniums in the flower boxes.
