Was a good day, but a bad day. The sun was shining and the temperatures warmer, but Nic looses his pocket knife.

Today headed back up to Mannlichen and hiked to the top and then back to Mannlichen and on to Kliene Schiedegg. Unfortunately, on the way, Nic lost his new Swiss Army knife and we spent some time looking for it instead of hiking. Never found it and he is terribly disappointed. Maybe our dinner tonight was some consolation - he had a huge brat with pomme frites followed by an ice cream sunday that came with its own boat of hot chocolate sauce.

Here is a summary of today in photos:

This is the view from the train window on the way from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen. The town in the valley is Lauterbrunnen and if you had the BIG version of the photo you can make out our house.

This is the train station in Wengen - we've been through here many times.

The boys heading towards the Mannlichen summit.

At the summit, it was high enough that the temperature was low enough so that the condensationwas frozen on the flowers.

From the summit of Mannlichen, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen sort of blend into one since you cannot make out the cliff anymore.

Here we are at the summit - all alone - no one else braved the cold.

Then after hiking to Kliene Schiedegg we found this dog looking for a rescue - well actually I think this dog was past the rescue age.

The train station at Kliene Schiedegg.

At Kliene Schiedegg this guy was cooking Rosti in a huge pot over a fire - tasted good too!

Then after returning to Lauterbrunnen, the boys noticed the swimming pool was open, so we went. It took my breath away when I jumped in it was so cold.

Kathy and I are happy about our huge fondu meal.

Nic, I'm sorry to hear about your Swiss army knife. You must have felt really bad when you realized it was lost. Are you going to get another one?

Hey--that fondue par-tay looks great! Are you all finding the food to your liking?? It is beautiful here in SD--I picked some green beans for supper tonight. Andy heads off to San Jose (conference) on Monday. The rest of us keep on with our jobs and all that. Chris and Sarah and I went to the pool today--so nice! Keep the pics coming! Jenelle
